Justin Nalls: Teaching/Campus Pastor
What does an average week look like for you at Lakeview?
I spend a lot of time studying the Scriptures, reading commentaries, planning sermon series, and preparing sermons. I attend the teaching team meeting on Tuesday and the staff meeting on Friday. I also try to spend as much time as possible with people from the Vernon Hills campus, whether it be in small group meetings, getting coffee, or having them in our home for dinner.
What is your favorite thing about your ministry?
It is a great joy and privilege to have the responsibility of teaching the Scriptures to people. I enjoy the hard work of exegesis, the constant study, and thinking through ways to communicate biblical truth clearly and effectively. And I love when it comes together in the proclamation of the Word in corporate worship.
If you had a day to do absolutely anything you wanted, what would that be?
I'd wake up in Maui, where I would sit on a balcony facing the ocean while praying and reading Isaiah and Romans. Then I'd go play a round of golf at Augusta National. I would have lunch at Surin West in Birmingham with my family. In the afternoon, I would visit museums in London and Paris, and walk around Rome. I would have dinner at Windsor Court in New Orleans with Gregory of Nazianzus, Martin Luther, John Calvin, John Wesley, John Piper, and Gerald Bray. After dinner, I would attend a concert featuring Poison, Billy Joel, and U2. I would then go listen to some blues music at 930 Blues Cafe in Jackson with a few of my closest friends. I would end the day on my couch in Chicago with my wife Cassie, who would have been with me throughout the entire day.

If you could only watch one movie for the rest of your life, what would it be?
